In February 2026, Colorado Public Radio spoke with Josh Blue at Boulder’s Dairy Arts Center about his first memoir, Something To Stare At. The 2025 book covers childhood in West Africa, cerebral palsy, Paralympic soccer and comedy. Blue called the project “putting the cerebral in cerebral palsy.”

Blue was born in Cameroon, raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, and started doing open mics at Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. He represented the United States in cerebral-palsy football at the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens, then built a comedy career in Denver. In 2006, he won the fourth season of NBC’s Last Comic Standing. He later appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and finished third on America’s Got Talent in 2021.

His material draws on single parenting, divorce, family life and strangers’ assumptions about cerebral palsy. “There’s no map on that. I’ve never written anything down physically. It’s just all kind of off the top of my head.” Freak Accident, his 2024 special, was released through YouTube and 800 Pound Gorilla Media. Earlier releases include 2012’s Josh Blue: Sticky Change on Showtime.

Blue changes the order, timing and topics as the room demands. Crowd interaction can become part of the set.
