In April 2026, Forbes caught up with Desi Banks as he leaned into his “Your Favorite Cousin” identity and prepared for the forthcoming film Boyz Trip. “I look at myself as a comedian, not just a social media comedian,” he said.
Raised on Atlanta’s east side, Banks began posting sketches on Vine in 2012 and started doing stand-up in 2017. His background includes Cedar Grove High School, college football at Morehead State and Georgia State, and a sociology degree earned in December 2015.
Banks played Fonk the Freak in a 2022 episode of Sherman’s Showcase, appeared on Season 6 of The Shop: Uninterrupted in 2023, and joined Ms. Pat on a 2025 episode of We Got Time Today.
He has described the stage as a proving ground. Once the audience is with him, he can be freer with the material.
