Houston has one of the best free comedy scenes in the country — you just have to know where to look. Every week there are free shows and open mics across the city: bar showcases where working comics sharpen their best material, and open mics where you might catch a future headliner’s first great set. Free doesn’t mean an afterthought, either; several of these rooms are run by the same comics and producers behind the ticketed shows downtown. This page tracks every free comedy show in Houston, updated twice daily. Most are 21+, most want you to buy a drink, and all of them want you in a seat laughing.
