“Whether you agree with me or not, you are probably going to laugh.” Winston Hodges offered that assessment in a May Netflix profile of Funny AF with Kevin Hart, the 2026 stand-up competition series. His conversational material covers politics, race, religion, geopolitics and grief.
The Farmville, Virginia, comedian started in Richmond around 2015 and moved to Washington, D.C., during the pandemic. His 2020 YouTube special, Grieving Productively, addresses his father’s death.
Hodges works the crowd, takes prompts and builds riffs from whatever the audience offers. Southern childhood and geopolitics recur.
On the June 15 episode of How To Survive The Classroom, Hodges discussed working with autistic students and his experience on Funny AF. In a 2024 Art League interview, he said: “I always have a lot of fun when I work the crowd and improvise.”
Winston Hodges plays Punch Line Houston on Thursday, October 8, 2026. Get Tickets.
